Understanding visit results: what should you ask the doctor?

Results should be viewed in the right context

A test result or imaging report often contains many numbers and reference ranges. Patients should not interpret each number in isolation, but should discuss with the doctor to understand results in the context of symptoms, medical history and current condition.

Questions to ask after receiving results

  • Which indicators are normal and which need further monitoring?
  • Does the current condition require medicine, follow-up or additional testing?
  • What should be adjusted in diet, activity, rest or daily habits?
  • If there is a prescription, how long should the medicine be used and what should be noted?
  • When should the patient contact the clinic again?

Keep your medical records

Keeping examination results, prescriptions and related documents helps doctors monitor changes over time and makes later follow-up visits clearer and more convenient.
